XTZ Cinema Series — A First Look at the UAE's Newest Reference Cinema Brand

Swedish engineering, beryllium tweeters and THX certification — at price points that reset expectations. Cinefolks is the exclusive UAE distributor.

Cinefolks is now the exclusive UAE distributor for XTZ, the Swedish loudspeaker manufacturer whose Cinema Series sits among the most respected reference home theatre systems in Europe and North America. For audiophiles and cinema enthusiasts in the GCC, this is significant: a brand previously unavailable in the region is now within reach, and Cinefolks is the only place to hear it.

Here is who XTZ is, why their loudspeakers are different, and what their arrival in the UAE means for serious home cinema.

Who is XTZ

XTZ is a Swedish company founded in 2004, headquartered in Jönköping. Their engineering philosophy is unusual in high-end audio: they prioritise measurable performance over branding, sell direct to consumer in their home markets (which keeps prices significantly lower than equivalent legacy brands), and publish full third-party measurement data for every product they ship.

The result is a company that competes acoustically with brands costing 2-3 times more. XTZ’s Cinema Series in particular is regularly recommended by reviewers as offering "reference performance at one tier below reference pricing."

What makes the Cinema Series different

Three engineering decisions define the Cinema Series:

Pure reference voicing. XTZ refuses the marketing pressure to "sweeten" the sound for showroom auditions. Their loudspeakers are tuned for measured neutrality — what you hear is what the mix engineer recorded, not a more flattering version. This matters most for cinema reference work, where any colouration distorts what the director intended.

Beryllium tweeters as standard. Beryllium is the gold-standard tweeter material — it combines the stiffness of diamond with extremely low mass, producing extended high-frequency response with vanishingly low distortion. Where most brands reserve beryllium for their reference tier, XTZ uses it across the Cinema Series.

THX certifications throughout. Multiple Cinema Series configurations carry THX Ultra certification, meaning they have been independently measured to meet the requirements for reference-cinema playback at reference SPL in rooms up to 85m³.

The range

Cinema S5 — Bookshelf reference monitor. Beryllium tweeter, 6.5" aluminium-coned mid/bass driver. For surround channels or stereo in smaller rooms.

Cinema S8 — The flagship floor-standing model. Three-way design with twin 8" aluminium bass drivers. THX Ultra certified. For dedicated cinema rooms 40m²+.

Cinema C5 — Centre channel matched to the S5 and S8. Crucially uses the same Beryllium tweeter and driver materials, ensuring timbral continuity across the front three.

Cinema 99 Surround — Specialised side/rear surround speaker with dipole/bipole switching, designed for THX-pattern surround installations.

SUB 1X12 — 12-inch sealed reference subwoofer, configurable for either music-grade smoothness or cinema-grade impact via DSP profiles.

Where XTZ fits in the market

For UAE buyers, XTZ slots into a price tier roughly between Klipsch Reference Premiere and Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series — but with measured performance that contests the upper end of that range. A full XTZ Cinema Series 7.1.4 install in a UAE villa lands at approximately AED 180,000 for the speaker package. The equivalent performance from legacy brands typically runs AED 280,000-350,000.

This is not a value-engineering brand. This is a brand that has refused to spend on marketing layers, retail margins, and prestige positioning, and passed that saving to the buyer.

Cinefolks’s exclusive role

Because Cinefolks is the exclusive UAE distributor, the brand is available only through our showroom and our installation service in the region. This is not a constraint we lobbied for — it is the deal XTZ structures with one specialist integrator per region, to ensure the brand’s reference-grade performance is supported by reference-grade installation. The Cinema Series is not a brand we recommend for self-install.

Coming to UAE

The first XTZ Cinema Series installations in the UAE begin in May 2026. Our Nadd Al Hamar showroom carries a 7.1.4 reference system from the range — paired with a Marantz Cinema 50 processor and reference projection — for direct comparison against the other premium options we carry (Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Anniversary, Focal Sopra, Sonus Faber).

Auditioning XTZ is the right next step for anyone:

  • Building a dedicated cinema room and unwilling to compromise on reference performance
  • Considering Bowers & Wilkins 802/800 D4 but wanting to know what alternatives exist at comparable performance
  • Specifying a system for a large UAE villa or commercial residential project where measurable performance matters more than badge prestige

Book the audition with us directly. We will play your reference content; you will hear what XTZ’s reputation in Europe was built on.

A note on availability: XTZ Cinema Series products are made in modest batches in Sweden. We hold stock of the most-requested configurations in our Nadd Al Hamar warehouse, but custom finishes and the full SUB 1X12 array typically run a 6-8 week lead time. Pre-orders are open now.
